Bold and italic text
Bold where the platform has no bold.
Instagram, LinkedIn and X have no formatting, so bold text on them is a set of look-alike characters. Type a line, pick a style, copy it. Keep it to a headline: a screen reader spells these out one letter at a time.
- X
- Threads
Only A to Z, a to z and 0 to 9 change. Other letters, å, ä and ö among them, stay as they are.
Type a line and pick a style.
How it works
- How
- Unicode's mathematical letters, which every platform shows and none can strip.
- Search
- Formatted words don't match a search or a hashtag. Keep the ones that matter plain.
- Screen readers
- Read them letter by letter, or skip them. A headline is fine; a paragraph is not.
In Buzzmark
Buzz writes for the platform.
A LinkedIn post gets its structure from line breaks and a strong first line, the way the feed rewards it, without a character trick in sight.
